Heavy Equipment Operator

The heavy equipment operators provides skill and responsibility for but not limited to: job site safety, equipment planning and operation, team work. The heavy equipment operator is a key participant in the relationship with the customer, sub-contractors, and project completion. Successful operators will possess a solid work ethic, positive attitude and team-mindedness, maneuver and utilize equipment safely and efficiently, and takes responsibility with integrity and honesty.

Essential Functions:

  • Participates in “safety tool box meetings” and JSA’s
  • Ensures timely responses, actions, and corrections to any safety issues/needs
  • Communicates with the Project Foreman and Project Manager regarding all aspects of the job
  • Recognizes, addresses, and resolves issues as they arise on the job site
  • Reviews and tracks weekly production along with the Project Foreman and Project Manager
  • Works with the crew to overcome project challenges
  • Effectively communicates orally

Quality Control:

  • Accountable for ensuring that assigned work completed meets and/or exceeds company standards
  • Responsible for enacting work processes to safely improve productivity and product quality
  • Carefully and strategically maintain equipment for proper operation and performance
  • Review quality and coordinate resolution to any deficiencies

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Experienced and comprehends project construction scope and objectives
  • Company and project safety programs and objectives
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures in equipment operation
  • Other duties as assigned by the project foreman, project manager, or field superintendent

  • Communication Proficiency (written and oral)

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 3 or more years experience operating heavy equipment
  • Basic first aid training (Company Provided)
  • 10-Hour OSHA Training (Company Provided)
  • MSHA Part 46 Training (Company Provided)
